’Summer IN THE ROLLING HILLS
OF TUSCANY 2019’
FOOD + PHOTOGRAPHY + VISUAL STORYTELLING RETREAT
JUNE 6TH-10TH 2019
Last year I had the profound joy to cross path with the loveliest, most heartwarming couple living in a in a restored Tuscan 13th-century monastery nestled in the lush rolling hills of an undisturbed part of Tuscany called Codiponte. This fantastic couple, Maartje Schonefeld and Davide Donati, became precious friends, and since our meeting in July last year, I’ve had the privilege to create and conduct two amazing retreats in their agriturismo.
In June 2019 I am excited to offer another highly curated retreat in close collaboration with my dear Tuscan friends, who know this bountiful region as the back of their hand. This time I will invite you on an insider's explorative and culinary tour to hidden gems, treasures and trattorias of the region, fuel you with new learning about photography and storytelling, and along the way nourish your tastebuds massively.
During our five days/four nights together, a local ‘nonna’ and homechef will, amongst others, teach us how to make fresh Italian pasta in the most picturesque shapes and with a filling of the best ingredients from the area. We will shoot the pasta in its making, take gorgeous process shots, talk about how to capture the soul and atmosphere of the creation and location, how to tell a strong visual story and how you find your own unique trademark style. When you wake up in the morning, the loveliest Tuscan breakfast is waiting for you in the courtyard, and in the evening the most delicious homemade Italian meals will be served at a long wooden table at the terrace, or in the olive grow based on fresh local products and accompanied by good wine.

DAY OF ARRIVAL
On the day of your arrival, we will welcome you for a 'meet-and-greet' with cold spumante in the glasses and delicious Italian snacks made by our talented, food-loving host couple, who cooks all our meals in the farmhouse, based on organic, fresh ingredients, some of them grown in the garden belonging to the farmhouse. After the aperitif, we will serve you a festive Tuscan welcome dinner and celebrate our first night together.
FOOD & EXPLORATION
Throughout the retreat, my team and I will invite you on a number of excursions, where we can both shoot stellar lifestyle photos for your portfolio, blog, social media accounts, a book or a magazine, explore the region and enjoy some good meals. We will invite you on a sailing trip on Golfo dei poet and take you out for delicious lunch at a family-driven trattoria and a photo walk in one the most charming villages in the region, Tellaro.
With picnic-baskets in hand we'll take you to a secret picturesque waterfall with the most beautiful crystal blue water, where you are free to take a refreshing dip before we sit down under the shades of the trees and enjoy a delicate outdoor picnic of local specialties, olives, cheese, loaves of bread, Italian treats and more. And on the way back home we’ll stop for a drink or a refreshing ice-cream at our favorite local bar in the small, rural village near our retreat location.
On the final evening of the retreat, we'll prepare a wonderful, festive farewell dinner out in the olive grove served at a long wooden table in the midst of olive trees - the most picturesque scene you can imagine. And these are just some of the highlights we have in store for you - lots of other wonderful surprises will be revealed during the retreat.
Your home for five nights will be in one of two charming stone farmhouses drenched in history and set amongst olive groves and vineyards in the beautiful medieval village of Codiponte in a quiet and unspoiled part of Tuscany. The houses are located within walking distance from one another and are both characterized by peace and tranquility. Teaching sessions will take place at both places, and our wonderful host couple, Maartje and Davide, have been kind to offer to bring us quick and easy from one place to the other by car.
The farmhouse where most of our home-cooked meals will be served - La Concia - will be our 'headquarter' during the retreat. It sits on a hill surrounded by olive groves, terraces with olive trees, lavender, wildflowers and fragrant herbs, and offers stunning views and photo opportunities over the surrounding rolling hills, the majestic Apuan Alps and the historic village of Codiponte. Next to the farmhouse, there is a vegetable garden, that provides sun-ripened tomatoes and courgettes. There are plenty of shady places to retreat with a good book or to enjoy an afternoon nap. There are 3 single rooms and 2 double rooms in this farmhouse.
From the courtyard, the other ancient farmhouse, that we are lucky to call our home for the five days, can be seen, nestled in the wooded hills. This farmhouse belongs to close friends of Maartje and Davide and has 2 single rooms and 1 double room. If you are an early bird and would like to begin the day with a swim, this farmhouse offers a relaxing swimming pool area, where you can enjoy a dip before breakfast and appreciate the view of the mountains.

It was such an honor to be a part of this creative bunch, made extra special by our lovely leader and teacher Sif. Her passion and ability to inspire, her big heart and kind words, her empathy and unlimited generosity are so precious and inspiring that we were all in awe. I came back home with a full heart and lots of new friends. It was unforgettable! Thank you Sif for bringing us all together and sharing your hearts and wisdom!”
KARMEN KODA, PARIS
SIGNED UP FOR SIF'S WORKSHOP HOPING TO HONE MY VISUAL STORYTELLING TECHNIQUES...BUT I LEFT WITH SO MUCH MORE."
For me, the main benefits came when Sif shared the inside secrets of her incredible personal success story and from receiving invaluable individual feedback which she happily provided beyond workshop hours and even upon my return home! Importantly, she makes you feel comfortable instantly, no matter your photographic experience. Her down-to-earth approach helped participants to immediately gel well together which made the workshop fun.
Sif's style of communicating her visual storytelling knowledge is unique and made me feel truly connected and inspired. I returned home equipped with more tools and fully motivated to take action on my dreams.
I can’t speak highly enough of Sif's workshops.
IVAN EBEJER, MALTA
